What is Local Law 152?
Local Law 152 was introduced in 2016 by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB). How Often Do You Need to Have a LL 152 Gas Inspection?

- Districts 1, 3, and 10: Buildings throughout all boroughs in these districts were due between January 1 and December 31, 2020
- Districts 2, 5, 7, 13, and 18. The due date cycle for buildings in all boroughs in these districts are due between January 1 and December 31, 2021
- Districts 4, 6, 8, 9, and 16. Buildings in all boroughs in these districts are due between January 1 and December 31, 2022
- District 11, 12, 15, 15, and 17. Buildings across all boroughs that are located in these districts are due between January 1 and December 21, 2023
Thereafter, successive inspections must be completed and submitted no later than December 31 within four calendar years and the inspection cannot be completed more than 60 days before the due date. For example, if your building is located in district 1 and you submitted your initial Local Law 152 inspection on June 1, 2020, you would need to file your next Soho, NY Local Law 152 gas inspection by June 1, 2024; however, you cannot have the inspection performed more than 60 days before June 1, 2024. For any new building that was approved for occupancy after December 31, 2018, a Local Law 152 gas inspection needs to be completed within the 10th year after the DOB issued the Certificate of Occupancy, and the above-mentioned 5-year rule should be followed for subsequent gas line inspections.
